Kaffe Fassett

Kaffe Fassett was born in San Francisco in 1937 and grew up in a creative environment on the California coast. In the 1960s, he moved to England, where he still lives and works today. Originally a painter, he discovered his passion for textiles and color through a chance encounter. He became internationally known for his colorful knitwear, and later also for quilts, patchwork, and needlepoint. His designs are characterized by bright colors, complex patterns, and an artistic approach. In 1988, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London became the first living textile artist to hold a solo exhibition. Fassett published numerous books, including the classic Glorious Knitting, and worked with Rowan Yarns as well as on his own fabric collections. He taught worldwide, and his color workshops are still in great demand. In 2018, he was awarded the British Order of Merit (MBE) for his services. Kaffe Fassett is considered an icon of textile art, and his love of color has inspired generations of creatives.
